HVAC - Refrigeration Technician

  • Must have EPA certification.
  • Must be registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation
  • Possess an up to date, clean Driver’s License. No DUI, DWI
  • Understand the operations of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Diagnose malfunctions and defects in equipment
  • Read blueprints and electrical and electronic schematics
  • Grasp electrical and plumbing concepts
  • Own and Operate tools, gauges and other testing equipment for refrigeration systems (a list of personal tools required of our technicians is provided.)
  • Possess strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Work both independently and in teams as needed.
  • Good math, communication and basic computer skills are essential
  • Good physical condition, as this job will require that they lift and carry equipment following safety procedures, up to 50 pounds, occasional ladder-climbing both inside and outside facility carrying tools and equipment, stand, kneel or stoop for long periods of time.


Senior Technician Duties and Responsibilities


Technicians commonly work on commercial units:

  • Refrigeration
  • HVAC and Heaters
  • Ice Machine
  • Beverage Equipment
  • Freezers-both walk-in and reach-in
  • Refrigerated Storage Units
  • Technicians might work on equipment in restaurants, hotels, grocery stores or manufacturing companies and should demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.


Install New Refrigeration Systems

  • Technician demonstrates physical ability to install climate-control systems
  • knowledgeable about all components of these systems, read blueprints and schematics, understand compliance standards, know local building codes and apply welding and soldering techniques as required.


Repair, Upgrade and Preventative Maintenance on Refrigeration/HVAC/IM Systems

  • Diagnose problems and make repairs to existing equipment.
  • Apply troubleshooting methods, replace parts and run tests to ensure the system is working properly following repairs.
  • Upgrade systems to satisfy new regulations or meet new standards.
  • Work on industrial climate-control systems, such as HVAC units, ice machines, beverage equipment and refrigerated storage units.
  • Install and troubleshoot refrigeration and AC systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance in order to avoid future problems or breakdowns.
  • Ability to work on mechanical and electrical components of these systems, though some may be trained to specialize in either of these areas.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC systems. This includes:
  • Following a checklist of parts and operations that need to be tested during a routine inspection of existing equipment, such as compressors, condensers, electrical connections and motor operations.
  • Ability to read and carry out the WO and/or the call’s dispatch notes.
  • Identify potential problems and relate those items to the manager and our office.
